GRO is an acronym for Greenhouse Gas Reforestation Offset, also known as GRO Foundation Uganda; a Social Enterprise Organization that alleviates poverty at the grassroots level through unlocking climate finance. GRO Foundation Uganda creates a financial products for national, regional and international markets known as carbon certificates.
Through working closely with international, public and private sector partners including government MDAs, religious bodies, cultural institutions, and corporate entities., GRO Foundation Uganda is dedicated to driving positive environmental and social impact in Uganda and the surrounding East African region with an ambitious goals to plant 1 billion trees and impact the lives of 1 million people by 2030.
The work focuses on six key initiatives: Afforestation and Reforestation, Food Security, WASH, Education and Skilling, Job Creation, and Sustainable Land Use and Environmental Management.
